Staffing meetings can be kind of a free for all. Unlike a general, which is relatively ritualized (you have a little small talk, you talk about yourself, they talk about their company, you part ways with a promise to work together sometime), a staffing meeting often feels like a weird, platonic first date where you may or may not ever discuss the job at hand. I go into staffing meetings with two intentions - and only one is getting the job.
