I’m not going to spend too much time talking about the characters section of a pitch because I’ve already written at length about character building. I will say that, for a pitch, your main character can get two short paragraphs, but after that, I’d stick to one. Having a prototype actor is a great move here - not only does it indicate the type you’re going for, but it helps the execs keep the characters straight.

Now onto the main attraction: the pilot! For actual pilot breaking advice, see my earlier letter - today we’re going to go more granular about the role the pilot plays in your pitch.
