Welcome to Room Snacks, a newsletter about the art, craft, and snacks of TV writing, written by real life Woman In Television Leila Cohan.
Who the hell is Leila Cohan?
I’m a TV and feature writer who writes dark comedies and light dramas. Most recently, I worked as a Co-Executive Producer on season two of the Emmy-nominated Special and season one of Bridgerton, which your mom definitely binged over Christmas. I’ve also written for First Wives Club, Santa Clarita Diet, Telenovela, and Awkward and developed pilots for Paramount, Hello Sunshine, The CW, YouTube Red (lol), and what was, at the time, still ABC Family. I’ve developed features with PictureStart, Lionsgate, and Burn Later. In short, your girl works and I’m here to tell you about it.
Why should I subscribe to her newsletter?
For $50 a year, you get 52 weekly newsletters about the art, craft, and snacks of TV writing. We’re gonna talk about everything from how to decide what the fuck to write a pilot about to what to do when someone actually makes that pilot. We’re going to get real granular about what to expect at a meeting. We’re going to talk formatting, crafting dialogue that sounds like how people actually speak, and why I had to revise this sentence because I said “talk” twice. And of course, there will be snacks. There will also be a weekly open thread! Make friends!
